ABC Auto Gear Racing team drivers Todd Wanless and Pete Thorley will both have their eyes on securing a solid result in Round 5 of the Qld Speedway Spares Series at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway (BIS) tomorrow night, although both will also have quite different reasons for doing so.

Wanless has competed in only three of the four Rounds of the Series this season and finds himself in a little bit of unfamiliar territory sitting ninth in the Championship heading into this weekend's event. Missing Round 3 while in the United States testing a USAC Silver Crown car at Phoenix last month has cost Wanless dearly in the Drivers Championship, although the team did collect a bagful full of Car Owner points that night with Kerry Madsen driving the car in Todd's absence and winning the Feature race. A good result for Todd this Saturday night would see him climb a number of spots in the standings.

Pete Thorley has continually been towards the top of the Series and Club Championship points tables for the past four to five seasons and so far this season he finds himself in a similar position. Pete sits second in Series points, thirty-three markers in arrears of Series leader Andrew Scheuerle, and a solid result tomorrow night will keep him in touch with the leader when the Series takes a mid-season break for the annual International Sprintcar events held at Archerfield through the Christmas/New Year period.

This weekend's event is the final pre-Christmas race on the team's schedule, with the team enjoying a short two week break ahead of the first of the annual International Sprintcar events at BIS on Boxing Night December 26, followed by additional events in Brisbane on January 1, 6, 8 and 9 and in Toowoomba on January 10.
