A B C Auto Gear Racing To Field Three Cars In World Series Opener
Jak posted Friday November 20, 2009.

ABC Auto Gear Racing, already one of the most competitive Sprintcar teams in Qld, are raising the bar once again by fielding three cars in tomorrow night's opening Round of the 2009/10 Performance Wholesale World Series Sprintcars Championship at Titan Garages Brisbane International Speedway.

Joining Todd Wanless and Pete Thorley on Saturday night in what will be his second appearance for the team this season is 2003 Australian Sprintcar Champion Kerry Madsen. Kerry, who won Round 3 of the Qld Speedway Spares Series (QSSS) on debut for the team last month, flies across to Brisbane today from his Perth base for the summer and will add yet another intriguing element to what is shaping up to be one of the best World Series events in Brisbane for some time.

Kerry will drive the #2 Aljon/Self Serve Auto Parts J&J in Saturday night's event, with Todd moving across to the team's #61 Tyrepower/Action Metal Recyclers J&J and Pete will stay in the #51 Tyrepower/Action Metal Recyclers Maxim he ran two weeks ago in Brisbane.

While Kerry is a last start winner at BIS, he is also a last start winner in World Series races having won the final Round of the 2008/09 Championship at Parramatta City Raceway earlier this year. Kerry, who these days calls Knoxville Iowa home, has three career WSS A-Main wins and five Fast Time awards on his résumé, a statistic he will no doubt be aiming to add to this weekend.

Wanless, himself a two-time winner of World Series races and a former Australian Sprintcar Champion, is excited about the event and what it means for the team to be able to field three cars on Saturday night.

"We're certainly very happy about Kerry coming across from Perth this weekend to run with us, it's obviously one of the biggest events of the season and Geoff Kendrick who Kerry is driving for over in the west this summer has once again been great to deal with in getting this organised for us."

"Logistically it's a big ask to run three cars at any event but I've got a lot of confidence in our team to get the job done. We're fortunate to have great support from a number of companies again this season, and having Tyrepower come on board with us this year has been very good for our team as well."

"World Series always attracts the best drivers in the country, there's been plenty of talk about it and we've been waiting for this weekend for a while now. Hopefully we can get all three cars in the race and put on a great show for the fans on Saturday night."

This weekend marks the start of a busy month for the team, with World Series events in Brisbane, Toowoomba and Sydney plus Round 5 of the Qld Speedway Spares Series on their schedule before Christmas followed by the first of the annual Sprintcar International events in Brisbane on Boxing Day.
